Weekly RCMP Report

The members of the Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 38 calls between March 9th and March 15th. A report of theft began calls for the 9th, with members contacted by a complainant in the community of Arcola.

The complainant detailed a theft of wood from their land, and offered suspect names to police.

The members contacted the suspect, who admitted to the offence, and offered to apologize to the complainant, with whom the suspect was familiar.

The matter is considered closed.

Calls on the 10th began with a report of a vehicle stolen from the community of Arcola.

The caller reported that an individual who shared a residence with the caller had taken a vehicle without permission.

The caller requested only that members return the vehicle, and did not wish charges to be laid in the matter.

Members located the suspect in the case, and ensured the car was returned to its rightful owner.

Members on patrol performed a roadside stop on a vehicle which was driving in an erratic manner.

Upon questioning the driver, the driver showed signs of intoxication, and there was a strong odour of liquor in the vehicle.

A roadside screening test was run, which the driver failed.

The driver was taken to the detachment for a more thorough test, which twice showed blood-alcohol levels at or above 0.8.

A 35-year-old male now faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and impaired operation over 0.8.

A speeding ticket was issued to a 26-year-old male in the area near Carlyle.

The individual was clocked on radar doing 140 kmph in a 100 kmph zone, leading to a fine of $200.

A caller contacted police and requested they open a file regarding a property dispute.

The complainant, a former partner of the subject of the complaint, requested the file be opened for future reference.

A hefty fine for speeding was issued to an 18-year-old male near Carlyle.The individual was clocked at 162 kmph, well over the speed limit, and within a zone of speeding where the rate of fine doubles.

The ticket issued to the individual will cost $468.

A member on patrol stopped a vehicle on Highway 13 near Carlyle.

The driver had swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic, which the member was travelling in.

A ticket for crossing the centreline was issued to the driver in the amount of $150.

An alarm drew members to a business in Carlyle.

Arriving at the scene, members found the property to be secure, and the alarm was recorded as a false one.

A member patrolling in the area of Kenosee Lake spotted a suspicious vehicle, however when the vehicle stopped in response to the traffic stop, the driver fled the vehicle on foot.

Members were unable to locate the driver that day, however the following day the driver turned themselves in to the detachment.

The 24-year-old male now faces a slew of charges related to the incident, including operation of a vehicle while being pursued, obstruction of a peace office, and failing to comply with a license endorsement.

The 11th of March began with members responding to a 911 call about an unwanted person in a residence in the area.

The caller stated the individual in question was intoxicated and was damaging property within the residence.

Responding members located the suspect, however the home owner requested that no charges be laid in the matter.

The individual was released, and the case is closed.

A 911 call drew members to the community of Redvers where a report of several vehicles stunting was received.

Responding members located several vehicles matching descriptions of the suspects, and verbal warnings were issued.

Members are investigating a report of a hit-and-run that took place at Bear Claw Casino, in the parking lot.

The caller stated the incident had occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The investigation into the matter continues.

A false alarm brought members to a business in Carlyle.

While there was no evidence of forced entry at the location, this was one of many false alarms at the property.

The keyholder for the location stated that the alarm company would be contacted to check the system.

A 911 call of unwanted persons in a residence drew members to the community of Arcola.

Members attended the residence and spoke with the individuals, who agreed to leave.

No charges were laid in the case.

A complaint of theft drew members to a home in Carlyle.

The complaint detailed the theft of several lengths of 3" copper tubing.

Property left behind at the scene was found in the course of the investigation, as was a witness to the offence.

Acting on the information acquired, members located and arrested a suspect.

During the interview with the suspect, the suspect admitted to the offence, and informed arresting officers that the stolen property had been sold to a metal scrapping concern.

The suspect is now charged with theft under $5,000.

A two-vehicle MVA began work of the detachment on March 12th.

The collision, between a quad RV and a car, occurred at White Bear Resort.

No persons were injured in the incident, and no charges have been laid in relation to it.

A 911 call was received reporting two vehicles racing on Main St. in the community of Manor.

Responding members were unable to locate the suspect vehicles.

A report of a break-and-enter drew members to a residence in Kisbey.

The complainant reported that their garage had been broken into, as well as a camper.

Missing property from the event included a clock radio, beer, and fuel.

The investigation into the event is ongoing.

A 20-year-old male was issued two citations for traffic offences occurring on Highway 13 near Manor.

A ticket of $175 was issued to the individual for speeding at speed greater than reasonable or safe.

A second ticket, in the amount of $580, was issued for driving an unregistered vehicle.

March 13th began with members responding to an alarm in the community of Redvers.

The alarm came from a commercial property, however while members were en route, the keyholder of the property contacted the detachment to cancel the call.

The alarm is recorded as false.

In furtherance to an assault detailed to police on Jan. 28th of 2012, members expanded the investigation to include another incidence of assault involving the same individuals.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Members responded to a complaint in the community of Carlyle.

The caller reported a vehicle failing to yield at a stop sign at a railroad crossing on Main St. in the town.

Members were unable to find the suspect.

On March 14th, members began the day by responding to a report of an MVA involving a cow and a vehicle.

The animal, which was still alive at the time of the report, was injured, and the caller requested members attend to euthanize the animal.

Members responded to the call, however by the time they arrived at the location of the collision, a second vehicle had happened along, and struck the animal again.

The cow did not survive the second impact, and members contacted the animal's owner.

A break-and-enter was reported to the detachment from a business in the town of Carlyle.

A cash box was missing from the premises, and an investigation into the theft is now underway.

Members were contacted by a government agency to assist with the serving of papers.

Members attended the community of Pheasant Rump to deliver a notice of adjournment pursuant to the request.

A wallet was received from the Weyburn Police Service (WPS) by the detachment.

The wallet, which had been turned in as lost, belonged to an individual WPS believed lived in the Carlyle Detachment patrol area.

However, following investigation, it was found the individual in fact resided in Weyburn.

The wallet was returned to WPS, along with the contact information for the wallet's owner.

A complaint was received regarding an oil tanker truck which pulled onto Highway 361 without stopping at a controlled intersection.

Members responded, but were unable to find the reported vehicle.

Calls for March 15th began with members responding to a complaint of threats uttered at a gas station in the community of Redvers.

The complainant stated that an individual in a vehicle had been spinning tires, and when approached to cease the activity, utter threats at the complainant.

The matter is under investigation.

Members responded to a caller who reported an intoxicated driver in the community of Carlyle.

Members located the suspect vehicle, and spoke with the driver.

A 2-litre cooler was found, and the vehicle proved to not be registered.

Members issued a warning to the driver, however 30 minutes later, the driver and vehicle were spotted by members driving down a road.

The vehicle was pulled over, and the 24-year-old female driver now faces charges of driving while suspended, and operation of an unregistered vehicle.

The driver had been under a 90-day driving suspension, and an additional 90-day suspension was added.

A complaint of an erratic driver was received by the detachment.

The vehicle, which was reported to be speeding up and slowing down to speeds which were unreasonable at both ends of the scale, ended up being stopped by members from the Carnduff Detachment of the RCMP.

The driver was ticketed for driving 136 kmph in a 100 kmph zone.

A request from event organizers in Manor drew members to that community.

The request was for members to provide a visible presence for a period of time.

Finally, a complaint of assault drew member to the area.

When members arrived, the situation had cooled, and no parties wished to move forward with charges.

The matter is considered closed.
