Weyburn Co-operative and Beaubier Co-operative will merge, effective February 2nd, into a new co-operative under the name of Prairie Sky Co-operative Association Ltd.
This merger is the result of several months of work between the two boards as well as feedback and approval from the membership at two general meetings which were held November 25 and November 26, 2013.
The Beaubier Co-op has been managed by Weyburn Co-op for the past six years and the two co-operatives have similar values and policies. The merger of the two co-ops into one makes sense when viewing operational and administrative savings available through working under one banner as opposed to two separate entities.
Please watch for information that will be coming in the newsletter next week which will explain more about the transition. Any members who hold memberships at both Beaubier Co-op and Weyburn Co-op will be issued a personal letter outlining the process to combine those two numbers into one.
