The Weyburn District Regional Planning Commission will unveil the first draft of the Official District Plan which is ready for public consultation, at an open house on Thursday November 14.

The District Plan will outline future land use policies in the district and will clearly illustrate the partnership in development that exists between The RM of Weyburn and the City of Weyburn.

"We've been working hard on this for some time now, and we're quite proud to say that although it has been a lot of work, the new plan looks very good," said Planning Commission Chair Jerry Jordens.

"Both the RM of Weyburn and the City of Weyburn have been coming to the table to cooperate and build a plan for our region that will create an environment that is a progressive place to do business and a vibrant place to live," he said.

The Planning Commission has engaged engineering firms to help define the areas that are most efficient for growth and to ensure that growth is continuous, positive, and sustainable.

"As we grow and expand our community, it is critical that we work together to ensure that growth is enabled and that we are meeting the needs of the people. We feel that Weyburn is leading the way in inter-municipal cooperation and growth planning," said Jordens.

The open house will take place in the Conference Room at the Canalta Hotel in Weyburn on Thursday, November 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
