Weyburn Legion to hold day of mourning service for Queen Elizabeth

A service of mourning for the late Queen Elizabeth II will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 10:50 a.m. at the Weyburn cenotaph.

WEYBURN – The Royal Canadian Legion, Weyburn Branch #47, will honour the late Queen Elizabeth II with a Special Day of Mourning service at the Weyburn Cenotaph on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:50 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Day of Mourning service will begin with a Parade of the Colour Guard to the Cenotaph, followed by the singing of O Canada.

The Last Post will be played, followed by two minutes of silence.

The Act of Remembrance will be observed by Brian Glass, and Reveille will play.

A prayer will be offered by Legion Chaplain Victoria Mwamasika, and Brian Glass will then place a wreath in memory of Her Majesty at the cenotaph.

Remarks by the branch will be offered by member Jerry Ponto.

The service will end with the benediction by Chaplain Marjorie McLeod, and God Save the King will be sung in honour of King Charles III.

Poppies will be available for a donation at the service. Individuals are encouraged to place a poppy in memory of Her Majesty at the bottom of the Cenotaph.
