The Weyburn Police Service received a phone call on July 12 reporting a suspicious male walking on Bison Avenue shirtless and carrying a weapon believed to be a baseball bat.
A second call come into police regarding a male known to the second caller who indicated the male was in possession of hatchet and was threatening the caller. Police attended at which time they located the male and arrested him.
The adult male was charged with uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and committing an indictable offence while wearing a disguise. The accused person has a court date of Tuesday, July 28, to answer to the charges.
Weyburn police received a call from a citizen report a moose on the loose in the vicinity of Boston Pizza on July 14. Police attended but the moose had made its escape to greener pastures.
Any person who encounters wildlife that has found its way into the city shouldn’t attempt to deal with the animals on their own. Police are asking the community members to call police or the Conservation Officers to deal with the situation, as it is dangerous to deal with a large animal such as a moose.
A vehicle parked at the rear of SaskPower Training Centre had fuel stolen on July 14. The vehicle then had damage done to the tool box attached to the rear of the truck box on July 15.
A report has been taken and the investigation continues. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact police at 306-848-3250.
During the past week, the Police Service received numerous reports of various scams and on-line frauds. Please note that any agency calling for personal information to be given over the phone is not legitimate and police are asking citizens not to divulge any information to the caller.
Also during the week, the Weyburn Police Service dealt with 99 calls for service varying in nature.
