Weyburn police charge woman with serious firearms charges

Weyburn police arrested a woman for having firearms stolen from a Yellow Grass residence, plus charged others on other unrelated serious charges

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service was made aware of a recent break-in at a Yellow Grass residence on Wednesday afternoon, in which several high-powered firearms and a large amount of ammunition was stolen.

On Thursday afternoon, alert WPS officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle that resulted in some of the stolen firearms and ammunition being recovered. An adult female was arrested and charged with several serious firearm and other criminal charges. She is being held in custody to appear in court.

This investigation is ongoing and further charges are likely.

In the same 48 hours, WPS officers have dealt with other serious incidents which resulted in individuals being arrested, charged, and held in custody.

As the result of an ongoing investigation, an adult male faces drug charges including trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking, with a street value of approximately $6,000 of fentanyl being seized; in relation to a domestic incident, an adult males faces several charges including assault, assault by choking, and unlawful confinement; in relation to an erratic driver complaint, an adult male, who also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from another agency, faces several charges including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and multiple firearms offences.

In addition to these, an adult male who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest faces a new charge of failing to appear in court as required in relation to his drug charges that are currently before the court.
