Weyburn police investigate accidents, mischief, fights

During the week of Apr. 9-15, the Weyburn Police Service dealt with 102 calls for service. There were seven commercial and five residential alarms during this time. An officer directed traffic at a railway crossing on Apr.



During the week of Apr. 9-15, the Weyburn Police Service dealt with 102 calls for service. There were seven commercial and five residential alarms during this time.

An officer directed traffic at a railway crossing on Apr. 9 when a heavy railway service vehicle got stuck and needed to be pulled out of the ditch.

After receiving a complaint about a noisy party on Apr. 9, approximately 50 youths were encouraged to leave a residence and the area of the party.

A car collided with a motorcycle at an intersection on Saturday. The car had been north bound and attempted to make a left turn at an intersection without yielding to the motorcycle which was heading south. The person on the motorcycle suffered very minor injuries. The driver of the car was charged for failing to yield.

A landscaping brick was thrown at a vehicle on Sunday, smashing the passenger window and denting the car.

A local resident received a call on Apr. 9 from a person identifying himself as a computer technician working on behalf of Windows, but no information or funds were exchanged.

A number of youths were spoken to by police after they'd had a fight where they were throwing rocks at each other and a vehicle was damaged on Apr. 10. All of the people were too young to be charged.

Police received a complaint of a noisy stereo on Apr. 9; the homeowner was warned about the noise.
Culprit(s) smashed a window at a church on Apr. 9, causing approximately $150 in damage.

After receiving an anonymous complaint, a resident was warned about a noisy party on Apr. 10.
Police responded to a fight at a local bar on Apr. 10; the parties involved were removed from the area.

A male was charged for mischief after tampering with a motor vehicle on Apr. 10.

An intoxicated male was removed from a city office on Apr. 10 when it was determined that he was on conditions not to be in the building.

A residential area was patrolled on Apr. 10 after receiving a complaint about a party and kids running through yards, urinating etc.

The side mirrors of a vehicle were broken off and left lying on the street on Apr. 10, and the following day a driver's side mirror was smashed off of a vehicle.

All of the windows, the headlights and taillights were smashed out of a vehicle on Apr. 10. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Two children were spoken to by police by Apr. 11; they had been ringing a homeowner's doorbell and trying to sell candy.

Police responded to a local area bar regarding a fight on Apr. 11; three individuals were warned about their actions and sent on their way.

An individual's wallet and a quantity of cash was stolen from his vehicle on Apr. 11; in a separate incident, a wallet and a bag of candy was stolen out of a vehicle while parked in the homeowner's driveway.

A vehicle was damaged in a hit and run accident on Apr. 11.

Police are investigating an assault that occurred at a facility run by the City of Weyburn on Apr. 11.
After receiving a complaint of a hit and run accident on Apr. 12, police located and arrested an individual for impaired driving. Charges of impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and fail to report an accident were also laid.

A GPS unit was stolen out of a vehicle on Friday.

While stopped at a bus stop on Friday, a male set his wallet down on a seat and it was stolen. A call to police was made after the bus had left the city. Police were unable to get the bus stopped to check the individual responsible for the theft.

Police responded to a fight at a local area bar on Saturday, but one of the combatants was gone when police arrived. The other person suffered minor injuries, and no charges were laid.

The sign off of the roof of a taxi was stolen on Saturday.

Police responded to another bar fight on Saturday, and the individuals were cleared from the area before the fight started.

After receiving a complaint about a number of individuals drinking outside of a bar on Saturday, a quantity of liquor was dumped on the ground. The fine for consuming alcohol in a public place carries a fine of $360.

Police attended a domestic dispute on Sunday; one of the residents left the home willingly, and no charges were laid.

A homeowner was warned about their noisy stereo after a complaint was received on Sunday.
A male was arrested and subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08 on Sunday.
