Weyburn police investigate thefts, mischief and fraud

The Weyburn Police Service responded to calls ranging from thefts to mischief and fraud during the period of Oct. 31 to Nov. 6. The police service would like to report a safe and problem-free Halloween.

The Salvation Army store is requesting that unusable items not be discarded at the store. They do not have the resources to handle the extra work to dispose of them.

A man was charged for shoplifting at the Weyburn Co-op Food store on Oct. 31.

A farm cart was taken from an alley in the Washington Drive area on Oct. 31. It is grey in color.

Police attended a domestic dispute on Nov. 2, where a girl was damaging the interior of the home. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was also charged for breaching her undertaking.

Police attended a bar disturbance at the King George on Nov. 3. Two men re-entered the bar after being asked to leave. One man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for being drunk in public.

There continues to be problems in the Souris school area with motorists disobeying bus arms. Buses load and unload on Fifth Ave. on the north side of the school. Motorists cannot pass the buses while lights are activated.

Several residents were solicited by a individuals identifying themselves as PC Care. They want to tap into your home computer.
They are very convincing. Do not give out personal information over the phone.

Police were called to a disturbance at the Royal Hotel. An intoxicated man was damaging property inside the hotel. The matter is till under investigation.

An intoxicated male driver turned off Highway 39 and almost collided with a patrol car on Nov. 3. He was arrested for impaired driving.

The man was operating an unregistered vehicle and was a disqualified driver.

A female shoplifter was apprehended at the Weyburn Esso on Nov. 4.

A man was arrested for assaulting a student near the Weyburn Comprehensive school on Nov. 4. After the matter was investigated the man was charged for assault.

Police investigated a theft of money from unattended personal clothing left in a change room. Charges were laid.
Police attended the Weyburn Trailer court to investigate erratic driving on Nov. 5.

As a result of very icy and slippery streets police attended a motor vehicle accident on the 600 block of Coteau Ave. on Nov. 6. As winter approaches check your tires, give yourself more time to travel to your destination and use caution until road surfaces improve.
The Weyburn Police Service responded to a total of 119 calls for service during the week of Oct. 24-30.

The police responded to a minor single vehicle accident on Oct 24. The vehicle struck a tree on First Ave. NW. The 46-year-old female driver was charged with driving without due care and attention.
At around 9 a.m. on Oct. 24, city police were called to assist in opening a locked vehicle with a young child inside. The vehicle was unlocked and the child was unharmed.

Police responded to an accident on Government Rd. S. the evening of Oct. 24. A southbound vehicle hit a parked utility trailer. There were no injuries reported. City police were called to assist the nurses in the ER early on Oct. 25 with an intoxicated 44-year-old man. The situation was resolved without incident.

Police responded to a complaint of an erratic driver on Confederation Drive on Oct. 25. A 16-year-old male driver was located and charged with driving without due care and attention.

City police came upon a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and 16th Street on Oct. 26. One vehicle had to be towed as a result of the accident. No charges were laid in the incident.

On Oct. 26, police received a complaint of a local business being defrauded out of $800. The incident is still under investigation.
Shortly after noon on Oct. 26, a complaint was received of a vehicle stunting in the Weyburn Comprehensive High School parking lot. A 17-year-old male was issued a ticket for stunting.

Also on Oct. 26, a complaint of a stolen credit card was reported to the police. The credit card was used to purchase $3,500 worth of merchandise at a local business. The matter is still under investigation.

The city police were called to a local licensed establishment to assist EMS with a 41-year-old man who was passed out on the sidewalk on Oct. 27. The man was transported to the hospital and later released.

Police were called to a local elementary school on Oct. 28. A two-year-old girl was found wandering the school grounds. The two-year-old was returned home safely.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, police received a complaint of minors being in a local liquor establishment. Police attended and four female minors were charged with being in a liquor outlet.

Police were called to a local liquor establishment for a fight on Oct. 29. Upon arrival, the subjects involved in the fight were dispersing from the area. The one subject was on conditions from the court. The 33-year-old man was later arrested and charged with breaching his conditions. He was held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.

At 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, police were called to a noise complaint at an apartment building. The 36-year-old male tenant was advised of the complaint and given a warning.

City police found a 43-year-old man laying on the ground outside a local liquor establishment on Oct. 30. The male was very intoxicated and had been bleeding. The male subject was taken into custody and EMS was called to assist. The male was released from custody the following morning.

Police stopped an erratic driver on First Ave. NW early on Oct. 30. A 29-year-old man from Manitoba was arrested for impaired driving. The male subject will face charges of impaired driving and drive while over .08. The male subject will make his first court appearance on Dec. 6.

Police were called to resolve a dispute regarding property on Oct. 30. Police attended to keep the peace; no incident resulted and the situation was resolved.

The Weyburn Police Service responded to numerous commercial and residential alarms during the week of Oct. 25-30.
