Weyburn police look into assaults, cougar sighting

During the week of Sept. 12-18, Weyburn Police Service members dealt with 122 complaints, and many were alcohol related. Several complaints of assault were received and are under investigation.

Police were called about a possible cougar sighting in the city on Sept. 14. The matter was passed on to local Conservation officers.

City police were called to a report of an assault on Sunday. The matter is under investigation.

Police were called to a complaint of a dispute between drivers on Sunday. The matter was resolved.


City police were called to a gas drive off on Saturday; the suspect vehicle is a black Duramax diesel. The matter is under investigation.

City police were called to a motor vehicle pedestrian accident on Sept. 14. The matter is under investigation.

As a result of a traffic stop on Sept. 12, a female was arrested and charged with driving while over .08.

Police were called to a local bar for a disturbance by fighting on Sept. 12. The matter was resolved without further incident.

Police were called to a disturbance at a local bar on Sept. 13. The matter was resolved.


A local Weyburn male was charged for driving while disqualified on Sept. 13, and he will be appearing in court in October.

Police were called to a report of two missing females on Sept. 13. They were later located.

City police were called to help locate a missing person from a local hospital. He was later located by police.


On Sept. 15, city police were called to a complaint of a young child riding his bicycle near a busy highway. The child was taken home.

Police arrested and charged a male for theft after he stole
property from a vehicle on Sept. 16.


City police were called to a complaint of an intoxicated male who did not pay for his taxi. Police attended and the cab fare was paid.

Police were called to a report of a drunken male at a local hotel on Sept. 16. He was lodged in cells and charged with public intoxication.

Police arrested and charged a local female with driving while over .08 on Saturday. She will be appearing in court in October.

Police were called to several noise disturbances in the city on Saturday, and matters were resolved.


Police were called to a domestic dispute. The matter was resolved without incident.


There were several alarm calls this past week along with driving complaints and complaints of damage. Residents are once again reminded to use care in school zones when driving and remember to follow the direction of school patrols.
