The Weyburn Review and This Week have been nominated as finalists for SWNA awards

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Review and Weyburn This Week are finalists for a number of awards from the Saskatchewan Newspapers Association, in their 2022 Better Newspapers Competition.

The winners of the awards will be announced virtually on Friday, May 13.

For General Excellence awards, the Weyburn Review is a finalist for Best Front Page and Best All Around paper in the class B circulation division.

The Review’s Greg Nikkel is a finalist for Salute to Veterans, for the story, “Wife of SSR vet proud to serve as War Mother”.

Nikkel is also a finalist for Editorial Writing Excellence, and for Best Health Care Series of stories, for his stories about Sabrina Mainil and the support of her family and friends through her cancer journey.

Nikkel and Sabrina Kraft are nominated for Best Photo Essay of the Year, for 'Fun at the Weyburn Ag Society Fair'.

In addition, Nikkel is nominated for Best Sports Story, for his story on pickleball player Deana Mainil, in Weyburn This Week.
