Weyburn Wildlife Federation presents awards for 2019 and 2020

Two years worth of awards presented as awards banquet was cancelled due to COVID

WEYBURN - The awards for hunting and fishing by members of the Weyburn Wildlife Federation were handed out on Saturday at the pancake breakfast held in the gazebo for their clubhouse at South Weyburn School.

The awards for both 2019 and 2020 were handed out as the winners came for the  breakfast, since the awards banquet event had to be cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following are the awards for 2019.

These are the awards for the top fish caught by members: Northern pike, Danny Benson, 22 lbs.; walleye, Ryan Englot, 8 lbs. 12 oz.; perch, Ryan Englot, 1 lb. 13 oz.

For birds, the award for the best pheasant: Ted Siwy, 39 bars.

For whitetail deer (with scores as measured): typical buck, Mya Fladeland, 145 6/8; non-typical buck: Darryl Mutrie, 167 5/8; buck taken by archery: Mike Penner, 139 6/8; junior whitetail buck: Everett Murray, 134 5/8.

For mule deer: typical buck: Darryl Mutrie, 178 6/8; non-typical buck: Kamri Olfert, 199 5/8; buck taken by archery, Darryl Mutrie, 178 6/8; junior mule deer buck: Kamri Olfert, 199 5/8.

Moose: Ron Mutrie.

Black bear: bear by archery, Ben Gill, 19 7/16; by muzzleloader, Duane Kyrylchuk, 19 8/16.

Best big game animal taken by a woman: Kamri Olfert.

Best overall big game animal taken by muzzleloader: Kamri Olfert.

Fred Garner Memorial Award for Outstanding Member of the Year: Morley Forsgren.

The following are the awards for 2020, starting with the fish categories:

Walleye: Jared Patterson, 11 lbs. 8 oz.; perch: Ryan Englot, 1 lb. 15 oz.; junior walleye: Logan Dunne, 7 lbs.

Whitetail deer: typical buck: Brad Labatte, 160 3/8; non-typical buck: Jared Patterson, 181 6/8; buck taken by archery: Ryan Lauf, 150 0/8; junior whitetail buck: Emma Aspen, 141 3/8.

Mule deer, Typical buck: Ryan Simons, 180 5/8; non-typical buck: Darryl Mutrie, 166 5/8; buck taken by archery: Darryl Mutrie, 166 5/8; junior mule deer buck: Ryan Simons, 180 5/8.

Antelope: Jeff Chinski, 83 2/8.
