WEYBURN - The annual fundraising banquet for the Weyburn Youth Centre is slated for Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Knox Hall.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the supper will be served at 6 p.m.

The event will include the banquet meal, a live and silent auction, and an update on the Youth Centre.

The board has set a goal of $35,000 for the fundraiser, which will go towards the day-to-day costs of operating, including power, natural gas, utilities, insurance and so on.

“The money we raise at the banquet allows us to keep our doors open for the youth of Weyburn and area,” said board chairman, Cam Weber, noting the Youth Centre aims to be a safe place for youth, regardless of age, race, sex, colour or faith.

Tickets cost $25 each, or people can purchase or sponsor a table of eight for $200. Businesses are also encouraged to donate an item for the silent auction.

Weber noted the Youth Centre reopened last November after being closed due to COVID, and it has been open every Friday night since.
