Operation Christmas Child was again a success in Weyburn, collecting 1,733 boxes to be sent on to Calgary.

The numbers this year were slightly lower than the 2012 total of 1,800 boxes.

Operation Christmas Child boxes were sent to the processing centre in Calgary where the money is removed and the boxes will be inspected. Shoebox inspectors try to add basic school supplies if the items are not in the box. Only the items that are not approved will be removed from any box.

After a box has been inspected and it's sealed with the official Operation Christmas Child tape, it is ready for shipment and delivered into the hands of a child who might be receiving a gift for the very first time.
