International Women?s Day, March 8, is an occasion marked by women?s groups around the world, including Weyburn.

Envision Counselling and Support Centre was the recipient of a grant from the Status of Women this year to sponsor an assertiveness workshop in celebration of International Women?s Day. Envision has held this workshop for a number of years and has had great success with it.

"This workshop provides a safe environment for women to come together, connect with one another and learn how to assert themselves more effectively," said Patt Lenover-Adams, executive director of Envision.

Lenover-Adams added that the workshop allows women to communicate in both personal and business relationships, creating a positive impact on others as well as themselves. Assertive communication creates opportunities for open discussion with a variety of opinions, needs and choices to be respectfully heard and considered in order to achieve a win-win solution to problems rather than aggressively demanding to "get my own way."

This one day workshop will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is no fee for this workshop but those interested must preregister by calling the Envision office at 842-8821. The registration deadline is March 4.

Envision encourages everyone to take a moment on March 8 to honour the women in the community who work hard to make a difference.
