Yellow Grass (cpd) - Vehicles, trailers and campers in Yellow Grass should be moved off the streets before winter. This will make it easier for the town workers when they do snow removal. People are reminded to travel slowly around town as there are many children out on bikes, skateboards or walking and playing. The speed limit is 40 kilometres per hour.
Halloween treats will no longer be collected and given out at the Yellow Grass United Church this year. In the past, people who would not be able to hand out their Halloween treats on Halloween would drop them at the United Church Auditorium. All that was brought in would be bagged and given out on Halloween night by a volunteer group.
Oktoberfest was held at the Yellow Grass Communiplex on Saturday, Oct. 26. There was food, music, a photo booth and activities for the children.
Popcorn Fridays began at school on Oct. 4. Popcorn and seasoning can be purchased from the canteen for $1. All proceeds will be used to sponsor the foster child, Mikesh.
Donations of food for the Thanksgiving Salvation Army Food Bank drive were accepted at the Yellow Grass United Church on Oct. 27.
The October worship team for the Yellow Grass United Lutheran Partnership are Erika Altwasser, Owen Altwasser, Joy Erb, Doug Watson, Connie Watson and Debbie Kerr.
Bing Jaster, a long-time resident in Yellow Grass, turned 95 on Oct. 16. Cake was served at the Yellow Grass convenience store.
The last Wednesday evening for the landfill to be open was Oct. 9.
A cemetery map has been put in the sign board located at the edge of the cemetery. There is an alphabetical list and a map so that people visiting will be able to locate graves more easily. The artificial flowers will be removed before winter by the town workers. Any ornaments or lights in the cemetery must be removed by family and friends.
World Food Day was held on Oct. 16 and Yellow Grass School participated in the FCC Drive Away Hunger program by collecting donations of food for a total of 278 pounds.
The Grade 5 and 6 classes held a sold-out bake sale in the Yellow Grass School Resource Centre on Oct. 16.
The Drop-in Centre held a Muffin Mania fundraiser on Oct. 8 in the morning. On Saturday, Nov. 2 a dinner will be served for anyone wishing to go. The Flu Clinic will be held in the Drop-in Centre on Friday, Nov. 8. A bridge tournament in set for Tuesday, Nov. 19.
Crib was played at the Drop-in Centre on Oct. 3. Lona Wilkinson won first place, Grace Quigley won second and Don Watson took third place.
