On Nov. 17 and 18 Carlyle hosted a hockey tournament for youth 12 and under. Two Carlyle teams were in competition with Sanjel Estevan, Estevan Thunder, Regina, and Lampman/Arcola.

Saturday saw games played of three periods each at 20 minutes straight time, with the last five minutes stop time if the goal difference were four or less. Two pools of teams played round-robin style games hoping to advance into the finals on Sunday.

Saturday saw Lampman/Arcola take first in their pool with, Carlyle Duane take first in theirs. Sanjel Estevan took second in their pool meaning they would face Estevan Thunder. Carlyle Wade ended up taking on Regina in the crossover matches on Sunday.

All of the youth played extremely hard, wanting to win; but, having fun while doing so. An extra bit to the tournament was a fun shoot-out following some of the games. Giving the goaltenders more action and allowing for the other players to handle the puck more, as they attempted to beat the goalies in a one-on-one skills match.

Following the Sunday matches Estevan Thunder took third place overall in the tournament. Carlyle Duane and Lampman/Arcola were pitted against each other in a nail-biting final. Both teams did their very best to come ahead in the game.

Following the first period Carlyle was winning, while Lampman/Arcola was able to come from behind to tie the game at three to three. To determine a winner the game then went into a three-player shoot-out. With great skill and finesse the players attempted to best the opponent's goalie. In the end it was Lampman/Arcola, which would claim victory.

It was a tough fought final and exciting hockey to watch for everyone in the stands cheering for their team.
