The Estevan Apex Bruins earned four points from their three games last week, including two ties in as many days.

The midget AA team drew 5-5 with the Regina Capitals on Friday, then tied the Melville Millionaires 6-6 on Saturday. They had previously beaten the Weyburn Wings 3-1 on Nov. 19.

The Bruins (5-4-3) currently sit in eighth place in the 13-team South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

On Saturday, the Bruins couldn't pull out the win in Melville against the lowly Mils (2-8-2), as both teams scored twice in each period.

Estevan's Dylan Lay and Colton Gingras traded goals with Melville's Destin Vranai and Brett Harasymuk in the first period. Harasymuk's goal came with one second remaining.

In the second period, it was Mitchell Morrison and Blaine Herzberg scoring for the Bruins, while Gordie Wasteste and Darcy Kayseas replied for the Mils. Three of those goals came in a span of 21 seconds late in the frame.

In the third, Taylor Elmy put the Millionaires on top one minute in, and it stayed 5-4 until a flurry of three goals just past the halfway point of the period.

Kyle Salaway tied it at the 10:20 mark, Harasymuk's second of the game came 19 seconds later, and 43 seconds after that, Colton Winton scored the equalizer for Estevan.

The Bruins' power play was key for them, as they went 4-for-8. Melville went scoreless in four chances, but did pot a shorthanded marker.

The Bruins outshot the Millionaires 31-19.

On Friday at home, meanwhile, Herzberg's goal with 48 seconds left salvaged a point for the Bruins.

Estevan had to fight back from an early 3-0 deficit, with Turner Ripplinger, Keelan Saworski and Matt Bohay scoring in the first 14 minutes of the game for the Capitals.

Morrison responded on a power play at the 15:14 mark.

Morrison and Bohay traded goals in the second period, keeping the Capitals ahead 4-2 after 40 minutes.

Lay and Ty Barnstable exchanged tallies in the first five minutes of the period, and Cole Piche's goal at 5:17 got the Bruins within a goal, setting up Herzberg's tying marker in the final minute.

On Nov. 19 in Weyburn, meanwhile, the Bruins got goals from Matt Bill, Morrison and Salaway, while Conar LaFoy had the Wings' lone goal.

The Bruins will be busy at home this weekend, playing three straight games. They host the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday (8 p.m.), Weyburn on Saturday (8 p.m.) and the Yorkton Terriers on Sunday (5 p.m.). All three games are at Affinity Place.
