The Estevan Apex Bruins bounced back from their first two losses of the season a week earlier by adding two more to the win column this weekend.

The midget AA squad doubled up on the Pipestone Valley Jets 8-4 Friday on the road and returned home Sunday for a 3-1 victory over the Notre Dame bantam squad. With the wins, the Bruins' record now stands at 3-2-3, good for third place in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League, four points behind the first-place midget Hounds.

Sunday's game was won on a pair of quick goals early in the second period. Brad Tomiski lit the lamp at the 2:29 mark and Kaelum Bieber scored a power play goal 2:29 after that. Ryan Frehlick had opened the scoring for the home side with 6:41 to play in the first period, but Manuel Manero evened the score for Notre Dame with 82 seconds remaining.

There was no scoring in the third period. Dylan Herzberg had two assists for the Bruins.

Estevan jumped out to a quick start Friday in Whitewood, taking a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals by Tomiski, Frehlick and Blaine Herzberg, all coming in the last eight minutes of the frame.
The Jets responded with two early goals in the second from Dylan Bear and Brayden Starr, but Jordan Bonneteau gave the Bruins a two-goal cushion midway through the period.

Leland Pearson would add a power play marker for the Jets late in the period to make it 4-3 Bruins after two. Estevan wasted no time putting an end to that, scoring four goals in the first seven minutes of the third period to put the game away. The outburst came from Dylan Lamontagne, Tomiski with his second of the night, Mason Benning and Steven Henderson. Brett Turgeon scored the Jets' fourth goal with 1:09 to play.

The Apex Bruins are on the road again this weekend, taking on Prairie Storm on Friday and the midget Hounds on Saturday.
