Bienfait’s Sorenson wins national bronze medal at Esso Cup

PRINCE ALBERT - Chloe Sorenson helped the Regina Rebels win the bronze medal at the Esso Cup national female U18 AAA hockey championship in Prince Albert.

Sorenson, a goaltender from Bienfait, was in goal for the Rebels as they defeated the Atlantic Canada representatives, the Northern Selects, 5-1 in the bronze medal game.

Sorenson stopped 24 of the 25 shots she faced in what was her final game of minor hockey.

She finished the Esso Cup with a 3-1 record, a 2.47 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.

She has played with the Rebels the last two seasons. She went 9-4 this season with a 2.55 goals against average and a .883 save percentage. She won 21 games and picked up six shutouts in her time with Regina.

Sorenson has committed to play for the Minot State Beavers next season.

Ontario's Stony Creek Sabres defeated B.C.'s Fraser Valley Rush 5-4 in the championship game.
