Considering how bad the Estevan Bruins were on the road this season, not many people would have expected them to storm into Kindersley this weekend and take both games.

But that's exactly what they did.

The Bruins edged the Klippers 5-4 tonight at the West Central Events Centre to take a 2-0 series lead in the Sherwood Conference survivor series. They won 2-1 last night.

It looked like the Bruins would cruise to victory after a dominant first period that saw them take a 3-0 lead and outshoot the Klippers 16-4. But the Klippers weren't finished.

Kindersley dominated the second period, getting two power play goals and another just after a man advantage had ended to tie the game 4-4 after 40 minutes.

Tanner Froese scored the game winner on a centering pass with 12:35 left in the third.

In the first period, it was Calder Neufeld, Froese and Dylan Smith with the goals, all coming in a span of 1:36 before the midway point. That was enough to chase Klippers goalie Tyrell King in favour of Warren Shymko.

D. Jay McGrath got Kindersley on the board at 2:40 of the second, scoring on a wraparound. Smith got that one back 2:26 later.

After that, it was all Kindersley. Colby Daniels fired a point shot off the post and in at the 11-minute mark, just after a power play had ended.

Kyle Davies scored on a power play 2:24 later, and Daniels' point shot at 15:04 was tipped by Bradley Buckingham to tie the game.

The shots in the second period were 17-5 for the Klippers, a complete reversal of the first.

Froese scored the only goal in a quiet third period at 7:25.

Aside from him and Smith both scoring twice, Neufeld had another excellent night on the scoresheet, getting in on all five tallies with a goal and four assists. He also scored the game-winner last night and now has seven points in the series.

The Bruins now have a chance to sweep the series on Tuesday at Spectra Place. They will be trying to end the series as soon as possible, for obvious reasons.
