Bruins wrap up winless northern road swing

Despite getting some major reinforcements in the lineup, the Bruins had a weekend to forget on the road. The 3-in-3 trip ended today with a 6-0 blowout loss at the hands of the Nipawin Hawks.

Despite getting some major reinforcements in the lineup, the Bruins had a weekend to forget on the road.

The 3-in-3 trip ended today with a 6-0 blowout loss at the hands of the Nipawin Hawks. Nipawin scored four times in the first period and then cruised to victory.

Ryan Ostertag scored twice against his former team, and Jesse Bernard added an assist. Other goals came from Adam Reichert (2), Eric Peterson and Jeff Datoff. Shots were 41-38 for Nipawin, with Derek Tendler taking the loss.

Yesterday the Bruins lost 7-4 in Flin Flon, with the Bombers leading after each period. Austin Yano, Taylor Reich, Tanner Froese and Josh Jelinski had the Bruin goals. Dylan Balaski (2), Dillan McCombie, Jesse Mysiorek, Brandt Weldon, Greg Wiwcharuk and Brett Penner scored for the Bombers.

The Bruins fired a ridiculous 48 shots on the Bombers, who had 36 of their own. Steven Glass was in goal. The game marked the return of Eric Baldwin to the lineup and he played on the blueline, with Denin Boesch out. Not sure if he had an injury, but he was back in on Sunday.

Friday's game against the Bombers was a little more low-scoring, with Flin Flon winning 3-1. Dylan Smith scored Estevan's only goal in the first period, while Cam Blair, Konrad Litke and Brock Hounsell scored for the home side. Glass was in for the Bruins, who were outshot 35-28.

The Bruins got a big boost that night with the return of Jelinski and Milligan, but both were obviously eased in and weren't able to help spark their team to a victory.

The Bruins have a few days off to regroup from a tough weekend. They take on Notre Dame in Watrous on Friday and then host Melfort on Saturday in their last game before the Christmas break.
