DeLaet ties 70th at first-ever Players

During round one of the Players, DeLaet started on the back nine and shot birdies on the hole 11, 12 and 14, then a bogey on hole 15, birdie on hole 17 and a double bogey on hole 18. Then on the front nine he had a bogey on hole one and a birdie on hole four. DeLaet ended round one with a 71, one-under-par.

Starting on the front nine of the second round, DeLaet scored bogeys on holes two, six and eight, but then shot a birdie on hole nine. He scored another birdie on hole 11 to end at 73, one-over-par. After two rounds, DeLaet was at even, right where the cut was set for the Players.

"Nice to sneak into the weekend at The Players," Tweeted DeLaet on Friday evening. "Shaky start, but hung in there well. Nervous coming down 17 and 18 knowing I needed pars."

DeLaet started on the front nine for the third round, and he had a rollercoaster time with bogeys on holes one, four and seven, and birdies on holes two, eight and nine. Then during the back nine, he shot bogeys on holes 11, 13, 14 and 16. For the round he ended at 76, four-over-par.

"Felt like I went 12 rounds with Tyson today," Tweeted DeLaet after the third round.

Then during the final round, DeLaet started on the front nine again, shooting bogeys on hole one, six and eight, a double bogey on hole four and a birdie on hole nine. DeLaet scored an eagle on hole 10 and a birdie on hole 11, but then bogeys on hole 14, 17 and 18. His overall score was 76, four-over-par.

The next Professional Golf Association Tour event for DeLaet is the HP Byron Nelson championship from May 17-20.
