The Estevan Comprehensive School senior boys' basketball team won one of their three games at their home tournament on the weekend, finishing in fourth place.

The annual tournament took place on Friday and Saturday, with six teams taking part.

The teams were divided into two pools, with the first-place teams playing for the tournament title, the second-place teams playing for third overall and the third-place teams playing for fifth overall.

The Elecs began on Friday with an 86-68 loss to Vanier, the eventual champion.

Later that night, they defeated Oxbow 87-59 to finish second in their pool.

That set them up for a matchup against Yorkton in the third-place game, which they lost 58-41 on Saturday.

Elecs head coach Shane Ross noted that it "wasn't a very productive weekend," with the high note being the lopsided win over Oxbow, after beating them by nine points earlier this year.

Vanier went on to edge Balgonie 57-51 in the final, staving off a late comeback bid.

Regina LeBoldus defeated Oxbow in the fifth-place game.

In other round-robin action, it was Balgonie 52, LeBoldus 25; Yorkton 82, LeBoldus 71; Vanier 81, Oxbow 65; Balgonie 57, Yorkton 56.

The home tournament was the fourth of the season for the Elecs. They will play in a tournament in Swift Current this weekend.

They play Vanier in the opener and Ross said he hopes for a better result in that game. He said their first game against them this year was close, but "they picked us apart pretty easy" in Friday's game.
