Haley Ronyk scored with 3:53 left in regulation to launch the Estevan Extreme Bruins into the bantam A provincial final during a 3-2 win over the Springside Parkland Lions on Sunday.
The goal broke a tie in the game as well as the two-game series, which had been knotted up after a 4-4 tie in Game 1 Friday in Springside.
In the second game at the Civic Auditorium, with the two teams tied 2-2 after two periods, Ronyk cashed in the rebound of a Brooklyn Dukart shot to score the eventual series-winner.
The Bruins had opened the scoring barely four minutes into the game on a goal by Lacy Smith.
The Lions, however, countered that before the end of the period with Ashely Hume scoring with 21.3 seconds to go.
Springside took the lead at 12:42 of the second on a goal by Alexis Schwartz. But the Bruins got a marker from Jessica Pele with 59.4 seconds on the clock to even it up again heading into the third.
On Friday, the Bruins trailed 3-0 only 10 minutes into the game but battled back to earn the draw.
Abbey Hollinger, Schwartz and Hume scored early for Springside, but Estevan would respond with goals from Ronyk and Mariah McKersie before the end of the first period.
The Bruins tied it up when Mackenzie Ronyk scored with 4:48 to play in the second. The Lions would get that one back two minutes later though, when Schwartz scored her second of the game.
McKersie added her second goal midway through the third period to tie it 4-4.
The Extreme Bruins will now face either Saskatoon or Swift Current in the provincial final. Game dates had not been determined as of press time.
