Fundraising with a pitchfork fondue

Arcola Fair and Stampede Inc. will be holding a Pitchfork Fondue on June 16 at Prairie Place Hall. Forget the giant tub of cheese; this will be a delicious steak dinner.

Arcola Fair and Stampede Inc. will be holding a Pitchfork Fondue on June 16 at Prairie Place Hall. Forget the giant tub of cheese; this will be a delicious steak dinner. Done to perfection the steak will be served with buns, potatoes, and beans by Vern's Pitchfork Fondue.

Tickets for the supper are only available for purchase through presales from the Fair and Stampede board, by contacting Trish at 577-3132, or make a stop at the Credit Union in Arcola. The presold tickets at $35 include the supper, but there will be an evening of entertainment to follow. At $280 one is able to purchase a corporate table for the night.

Without attending the supper, tickets are sold at the door for $10. Both pre-purchased supper tickets and those bought at the door include dessert as well as entry into the auction. They will be holding both a live and a silent auction. One of the attractions is the pie auction, where homemade pies will be bid on for a tasty treat.

There will also be tickets available on a raffle, which will be drawn that night. When the auction is finished a DJ from AC Entertainment will be playing music, making it a great evening to socialize with friends and other members of the community for a good cause.

All funds raised from the evening will go towards the planned new multipurpose building and the High School Rodeo, which will take place September long weekend (Aug 31 and Sept 1).

The erection of a multipurpose building is extremely important to the community as last year on July 15 the horse barn was destroyed by a fire. The space has been used for fairs, horse shows, 4-H events, the Musical Ride, flower shows, rodeos, ball tournaments, and various entertainment events. In 2011 their first High School Rodeo took place. This is why a new multipurpose building could be very beneficial to hosting subsequent events.

This event is sure to be an interesting and entertaining evening. If unable to attend, but you would like to help the Arcola Fair and Stampede donations towards the planned building, as well as the High School Rodeo are accepted.
