Gold Wings 1-1 with Wildcats

The Weyburn Gold Wings played two games over the weekend against the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats, with a 2-0 win on Saturday, October 5 and a 2-1 shoot out loss on Sunday, October 6.

The Weyburn Gold Wings played two games over the weekend against the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats, with a 2-0 win on Saturday, October 5 and a 2-1 shoot out loss on Sunday, October 6.

"Letting in only three goals on the weekend, we played well defensively, but we need consistency with our offence," said Coach Chad Kish.

The only scoring on Friday happened in the first period. Jensen Hammer opened the scoring on a power play from Whitney Thorp earning her First Star status. The second goal by Madison Colbow came from Jenica Whitrow.

"Swift is a hard working team," said Kish.

Sunday' game ended in a shoot out, Gold Wings goalie Jane Kish stopped one of three shots while Wildcat's goalie Brooklyn Weisgerber allowed only one Gold Wing goal from Hammer.

The Gold Wings next action is a tournament in Morden, Manitoba this weekend. The Gold Wings will face Pembina on Friday, October 11 and Lloydminster and Regina on Saturday, October 12.
