Golden Eels win swim meet in Swift Current

It was a productive weekend for the Estevan Golden Eels swim club. The Golden Eels attended two meets and won one, bringing home 10 gold medals in the process.

The Golden Eels attended two meets and won one, bringing home 10 gold medals in the process.

Estevan won the Swift Current meet on Saturday, finishing ahead of the hosts and Regina in the top three.

Six gold medals were brought home to the Energy City, won by Hannah Mantei (age 7-8 girls), Josh Wilson (7-8 boys), Payten Wilson (9-10 girls), Lanelle Bilokraly (11-12 girls), Auriel Bill (13-14 girls) and Mykea Jundt (18-and-over girls).
Matthew Hoffort (7-8 boys) and Akeela Jundt (18-and-over girls) earned silver medals.

The Golden Eels finished second overall in Assiniboia on Sunday, placing behind Regina and ah
ead of Gravelbourg.

Both Wilsons, Bill and Mykea Jundt earned gold. Mantei and Akeela Jundt took home silver.

The Golden Eels will host their annual meet on Saturday at the Souris Valley Aquatic & Leisure Centre.
Warmups begin at 8 a.m., with the meet itself starting at 9 a.m.

Swimmers will race freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, individual medley and relay events.

As with other meets, points will be awarded based on finish in each event, with the top three high point earners in each age group receiving medals.
