Legendary Rider party to support Weyburn Football

A "Legendary Tailgate Party" will be held in support of Weyburn Minor Football Association on Friday, Sept. 13.



A "Legendary Tailgate Party" will be held in support of Weyburn Minor Football Association on Friday, Sept. 13.

"We are calling it legendary because the event focuses on Riders legends and other alumni from the team," said Rochelle Wendt, representing the Weyburn Rider Nation.

It will be a true tailgate party to, as the event will be held in a tent in Jubilee Park. The emcee of the "Legendary Tailgate Party" is Lance Frazier, Grey Cup champion. The event will also feature Ken Miller, former Rider coach.

There will also be appearances by other Rider alumni. "We are confirming all the alumni who will attend, but so far we have talked with George Reed, Dan Rashovich, Marcus Adams, Andrew Green and Cleveland Vann," said Wendt.

The Tailgate Party will also feature a whole hog Texas style barbecue, "Fill your Mug" draft bar and "Out Bid Your Buddy" auctions during the evening.

In addition to silent and live auctions, Wendt said that tables will have an opportunity to bid on the Rider alumni. "The winning table will have their alumni sit with them during the event."

Tickets for the event go on sale on Monday, Aug. 12. They cost $75 each, and all proceeds will be donated back to the Weyburn Minor Football.

The three teams for the Weyburn Minor Football Association started their practices on Aug. 6. Teams include the atom DQ Ravens, peewee Crescent Point Energy Eagles and bantam Young Fellow Falcons.
The official season for the three teams will start during the Aug. 16 to 18 weekend. Information on their game dates will be detailed closer to August.
