As the Southeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC) nears the end of another season, riders are saving the best for last. Sept. 15 brought more than craft lovers to Carlyle, it brought in Moto-X enthusiasts as well. Riders were at the track as early as 7 a.m.to register and could be seen practicing from 9 a.m. on. The day was a sunny warm one, but the wind made the track a very dusty atmosphere and many parents watched with sunglasses protecting their eyes, it is now extremely evident why the riders must wear goggles. The dirt and rocks kicked up by bikes had no trouble blowing into the crowds. The SCRC racing circuit is focused on providing a "family friendly race series that promotes sportsmanship and fun, safe racing without the serious competitive environment of other race series." Racers of all skill levels are given the chance to share in their passion and love of motocross. The races are held at the Estevan, Weyburn, Oxbow and Carlyle Motocross parks. The 2012 summer season has been quite a talent filled one, divided among 12 classes. Although only one more race is left in Estevan, dedicated riders will be on their bikes until the snow falls. As for that last race, the season's winners and most improved riders will be honoured at an awards ceremony directly following the last ride of the day on Sept. 29. The winners for the season thus far, following the Carlyle event, were as follows. The leader in the 125 Class is Greg Miller. Travis King is currently winning the Super Mini, while Bryson Mayer leads the B Class. Mason Henderson continues to dominate the A Class. The youth division, although a tight race, is being led by Cole Jacobson. The 85cc class is led by William Merrett and the 65cc is expected to be won by Jordan Hillrich. Noah Jacobson is way ahead in the 85cc class. Alex Kerr is taking first place in the Small Wheel Beginner class, while the Veteran race is seeing top runner Randy Franke giving everyone a run for their winnings. The Women's Open is still being taken by force of nature Kate Lee. Only the last race of the season can see these results change and riders are expected to show their fastest times while competing for the season's top spots. The day had several sponsors in attendance, with tents popping up throughout the track property during the day. The brightly coloured riders were easy to spot and no serious injuries occurred. For someone who has never attended a Moto-X race it is suggested that making it to the last 2012 Estevan race could be the best plan. Even for people who don't consider themselves sports lovers, these races may surprise you. Motocross events never fail to please.
