After winning all three of their playoff games last week, the Estevan Sherritt Coal midget A Bruins have a shot at a rare championship double.

The Bruins won both games of their Moose Mountain Minor Hockey League semifinal against the Coronach Broncos to vault into the league final against the Redvers Rockets.

That series got underway last night in Redvers, with Game 2 being played tonight at 7 at the Civic Auditorium. Game 3, if necessary, will be played next week.

The Bruins also won the second game of their provincial semi against the Swift Current Wild on Saturday, setting up a provincial final against La Ronge.

The opener of that series is Saturday at 3 p.m. at Spectra Place. Game 2 is March 24 in La Ronge.
The Bruins entered Game 2 of the total-goal provincial series on Saturday with a 6-2 edge on Swift Current.

Kayne Ward extended the team's lead at 13:11 of the first, and then the teams traded goals five seconds apart.

Jayden Storozuk gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead with 14 seconds left in the period, but the Wild's Dominec Vallee responded immediately with a goal of his own.

Storozuk and Austin Spencer would score later in the game to cement the Bruins' win.

In the Coronach series, meanwhile, the Bruins pulled out a 3-2 road win in the opener on Wednesday.

Cole Stevenson got Estevan on the board with 64 seconds left in the opening period. Coronach's Curtis Noll tied it in the first minute of the second, but Tyson Price would put the Bruins ahead again roughly five minutes later.

Brandon Knudson pulled the Broncos even again midway through the third period. That score held until Bruins captain Landon Lavoie scored the eventual winner with 3:04 to play.

Game 2 on Friday was less of a challenge for the Bruins, who scored three times in the middle frame en route to a 6-2 win.

The Broncos took a 2-1 lead after the first period, but the home side would roar back.

Spencer led the Bruins with a hat trick, along with two goals from Stevenson and a single by Kelly Tomiski. Kurtis Bartlett and Kyle Bartlett scored for Coronach.
