The Wings travelled to Swift Current on April 4 for a one-game showdown with the Hurricanes to decide the South Saskatchewan Hockey League champion. Unfortunately for the Wings, the Hurricanes were the better team that night and they defeated the Wings 8-1 in front of a packed house at the Fairview arena.

The Wings found themselves in trouble early in the game and trailed 3-0 in the last minute of the first period before Cole Sjostrand cut the lead to two goals with a nice goal, assisted by Jacob Eger. That was as close as the Wings would get, as Swift was able to pot five more goals in the contest.

Despite the loss, the Wings had a great season on the ice and had a 10 game winning streak to finish league play, winning eight games and tying two others. The playoffs saw the Wings finish with a record of five wins and three losses.

The team will have six graduating players from their roster: Lyndon Lumb, Brayden Leslie, Brayden Ganson, Kyle Crozier, Garrett Dempsey and Daniel Watson. The Wings should have a good core group of returning players to compete for next year.
