Grady Benjamin played between the pipes for the Cougars' first game against Redvers where he stood on his head to keep the puck out of our net.
Jakson Humphries and Mason Barta didn't waste anytime showing off everything they've learned in practice, skating up the middle and passing the puck in front of the net. Alexander Bradley wastes no time getting in his corner and firing the puck along the boards to make the Rockets scramble for it. Everett Brown and Darcie Rae held the blue line making it hard for the Rockets to get the puck out of their end. Mitch Himmelspach and Tyrell Dixon put a point on the board for the Cougars when Tyrell shot at the net and Mitch picked up the rebound. Chase Robertson took home another hat trick and one assist and Kale Arndt put another awesome goal on his own roster. Ty Fehrenbach was strong on center winning his fair share of the face offs. Samantha Colpitts did some fancy puck handling, weaving her way around the Rockets.
Daine Thomas and Blake Robertson are on defense for a reason, when these boys are on the ice they make it hard for the Rockets to get to our net. Max Waugh took the puck off the Rockets stick giving the Cougars possession of the puck. The Cougars played hard and showed improvement with every period but the Rockets took this game for a win. In the second game of the day Blake Robertson took to the net as the Cougars battled against Weyburn.
Chase Robertson and Kale Arndt didn't waste anytime passing the puck back and forth up the ice making it tough for Weyburn to get possession of the puck. With Ty Fehrenbach strong on the face off the cougars gained the upper hand and Tyrell Dixon took the puck up the ice for a shot on net only to have Weyburn's goalie cover it in time. Grady Benjamin and Alexander Bradley displayed some awesome team work as they carried the puck up the ice to take another shot on net but the Weyburn goalie was ready for it.
Daine Thomas and Darcie Rae kept the puck in their end as Jakson Humphries shot yet again on the net but the goalie stopped that one too only to have Mason Barta with his quick feet and awesome wrist shot put the puck in their net on the rebound. Samantha Colpitts and Mitch Himmelspach hit the ice skating on every shift of every period while Everett Brown put all his skills he learned at practice to use keeping the puck out of our end against this strong team. Weyburn took the win in this game but with all the hockey smarts these Cougars have they didn't make it easy for them.
The Novice Carlyle Cougars are off to Whitewood next weekend for a two-day tournament full of hockey and fun.
