Offensive Lineman chosen for Selects

Derek Beaubien a Grade 10 student at ACHS has had a great year playing football. The 15 year old O- Lineman has played on several teams this year in the tackle position.

Derek Beaubien a Grade 10 student at ACHS has had a great year playing football. The 15 year old O- Lineman has played on several teams this year in the tackle position.

He was awarded lineman of the year for the provincial South Sask Selects football team. He played on the U13 team that competed in the Canada vs USA All star weekend that took place in Miramar Florida Feb 24-26 2017. Derek will be travelling to San Antonio, Texas with the South Sask Selects U14 team to compete in the Sixth annual pigskin classic  February 24 & 25, 2018.

For the past three years he has been honored with the award of Offensive Lineman of the Year  with the Razorback bantam team out of the Moose Jaw Minor Football League. On Sunday November 5, 2017 offensive line coach Tim Giokas stated in the presentation of this years award that a player like Derek is like the Hailey’s Comet. They only come along once every 70 years. Coach Giokas has coached at every level of football over the past 30 years and has not seen talent like that.

This Spring he was asked to join the U16 All star team made up of players from Southern Saskatchewan. The Regina Minor Football put this team together to play in a tournament hosted by Football Canada in Lethbridge from July 1 – 8. They competed against other All-star teams from Western Canada. The U16 South Sask team won bronze at the tournament. Out of this tournament Football Canada Selected forty players to represent Canada in a world tournament from January 11-18 2018 at the AT&T stadium in rlington Texas. Derek was one of the players chosen to play for Canada in this tournament.
