The 2013 Opportunity Road Race was held on August 18, raising a total of $4,768 for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation and $941 for the Weyburn Comprehensive School's SRC.
Racers from all ages competed in one of four courses, including the Kids Mini Mile, the 5K, the 10K and the 15K races. A total of 103 people participated, enjoying a lovely midsummer morning.
"The run went really well!" said Miranda Spencer, event committee chairperson. "We had a great morning weather-wise again, and we've gotten a lot of positive feedback so far. I think everyone had fun and we are already excited for next year."
Emily Williams of Weyburn crossed the finish line first at 5:36 in the Kids Mini Mile, followed at 5:42 by Sydney Spencer of Weyburn. Coming in third was Jacelyn Williams of Weyburn at 6:05.
In the 5K race, Male class, first place was Jaxon Marshall of Weyburn at 20:49, Andrew Bryant of Regina in second place at 21:13 and John Fenwick of Weyburn in third place at 21:21.
In the 5K race, Female class, first place was Char Lindsay of Weyburn at 23:38, Kim Kesslering of Midale in second place at 24:26 and Bonita Larson of Weyburn in third place at 25:26.
In the 10K race, Male class, first place was Kevin Robinson of Saskatoon at 45:16, Andy Broccolo of Weyburn in second place at 46:17 and Andrew Kerr of Weyburn in third place at 47:14.
In the 10K race, Female class, first place was Hollie Andersen of Powers Lake, North Dakota at 47:34, Laure Speers of Weyburn in second place at 52:24 and Susan Husband of Weyburn in third place at 53:57.
In the 15K race, Male class, first place was Brad Spencer of Weyburn at 1:05:49, second was Barry Cyca of Regina at 1:11:22 and Tom Maher of Regina came in third place at 1:22:55.
In the 15K race, Female class, first place was Rianne Wight of Yellow Grass at 1:15:10, Karen Becker of Weyburn was second place at 1:21:49 and Dee Nelson of Weyburn was third place at 1:22:10.
