Weyburn's Peterson sisters, Brooke and Starlet, will both play for the Briercrest Clippers women's volleyball team this season.

The 2012-13 Briercrest women's volleyball team have a combination of veterans and rookies. Brooke returns to the team in her third year as team captain, and one of only six returning players this season. Starlet is one of the newest rookies who will be joining the team.

Already, Brooke Peterson is exceeding expectations in her first year as team captain. The Weyburn-raised libero is a great example to her teammates.

"What I bring to our team is a lot of passion and drive to just do our best. I also bring a lot of energy on and off the court," said Brooke. She is a third year Business Administration student and attends classes in the Moose Jaw SIAST location for her Briercrest-SIAST concurrent degree.

Brooke has big goals for the team this year and hopes to help them reach new heights for Briercrest women's volleyball. "As an athlete I hope to win the ACAC and CCAA Championships. I just really want to work hard to reach my potential and to help my teammates reach their potential as well."

The ACAC is the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and the CCAA is the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association.

Brooke has observed and enjoyed the unique environment at her school. "What's special about our team is the community we have here at Briercrest. We live together in the dormitories and it helps us form really tight relationships, and that translates onto the court."

Head coach Nolan Weinmaster is very happy about where Brooke fits into the team. "She has exceeded my expectations in her first year as captain so far and I am looking forward to how she continues to lead in setting the culture of character and success we are striving for."

The Clippers started their season on Oct. 26 and 27, splitting games against the Grande Prairie Regional College. Their first home games were on Nov. 2 and 3 against Lakeland College.

The volleyball season continues throughout the months of November, January and February. Finals for the ACAC will be chosen dependent on league standings in mid-February.
