Photos: Estevan teams go 2-1 to begin play at Western Canadians

Three close, exciting games opened the Western Canada Baseball Championships in Estevan.

ESTEVAN - The Western Canada Baseball Championships in Estevan are underway.

All three Estevan teams entered in the tournament were in action on Friday morning, and they went a combined 2-1. The Estevan TS&M U13 AA Brewers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning in their game with Alberta's Camrose Cougars Royal, and went on to win 10-9.

Their next game is at 2 p.m. against B.C.'s North Langley Trappers. 

The Estevan U15 AA Brewers had a thriller against B.C.'s South Island Royals, and won 4-3.

They will play again at 4:45 p.m. against Alberta's Stettler Storm. 

The Estevan Aero Advertising U18 AA Brewers fell 4-3 to Manitoba's Elmwood Giants. They will play again at 4:45 p.m. against Saskatchewan's Assiniboia Aces.

Western Canadians feature representatives from each province in each of the three divisions. The host Brewers also have a team in each division.

The U13 and U15 games are played at Mel Murray Cactus Park. The U18 games are at Lynn Prime Park.
