The Weyburn Red Wings have won five of their last eight games, with the November 29 win over the visiting Yorton Terriers 3-2 in a shoot out.
"We played really well in the first 25 minutes, but we fell apart in the second," said Wings coach Bryce Thoma. "We were back to playing again in the third."
Just 14 seconds into the game, Josh Lees scored off the sticks of Brian Farkas and Tyler Borstmayer. The Wings' second goal of the game was scored by Matt Eng with assists to Logan Herchak and Curtis Piecowye.
The Terriers scored unanswered in the second period and then evened up the scoring in the third.
"They're a good team and it was good to see us play as a whole and limit the scoring opportunity," said Thoma.
Ty McLean, Farkas and Shain Schschuk were unable to score in the shoot out, but Jon Brumwell broke through scoring the winner for the Wings.
The night also brought the jersey auction with the proceeds going to the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation.
The Red Wings wore special edition jerseys for the auction, eight of which were auctioned off live between periods by Jeff Tosczak of Tosczak Auctions. The remainder were auctioned in a silent auction which was held during the game in the lobby of Crescent Point Place.
A total of $9,590 was raised for the hospital foundation, with Brumwell's jersey bringing in the highest amount at $1,600.
