The Assiniboia Composite High School Rockets football team had a lucky day on Friday, October 13. The Rockets defeated the Preeceville Panthers 20-8 in a road game on October 13. The win allows the Rockets to advance in its 2A six-man C3 division of the high school football playoffs of the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association.
The Rockets’ defense was instrumental in the win, containing the opposition’s offensive drives and allowing the Assiniboia offense to score. The team will next face Wynyard which sits in first with a 5-0 win record in the regular season. Assiniboia finished the regular season in fifth place with a 1-4 record. The final takes place in Saskatoon on November 11.
Meanwhile, Assiniboia’s peewee Rockets scored a huge lopsided victory defeating Estevan 52-0 at Woodlawn Athletic Field in Estevan on October 7. The peewee team has a strong offense that continues to roll over opposition teams.
