One night after a wild comeback fell short in Weyburn, the Estevan Bruins took an early lead and held on for a 3-1 win over the Red Wings on Saturday at Spectra Place.

The Bruins' scoring all came from fresh faces, with rookies Tanner Froese, Ben Johnstone and Taylor Reich supplying the offence.

Coltyn Sanderson had Weyburn's only goal late in the second period, coming on a deflection.

Froese scored his fourth of the year at 12:29 of the first on a rebound, and Johnstone followed that up with his first SJHL goal roughly two minutes later.

Reich would give the Bruins a three-goal cushion just 26 seconds into the middle frame. There was no scoring in the third period.

Shots on goal were 30-28 for Estevan (6-3), with Bruin netminder Steven Glass making 27 saves. Mitch Kilgore turned aside 27 shots for the Wings (4-5).
