Ross named SJHL player of the year

Weyburn Red Wing forward Jesse Ross has been named the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's (SJHL) player of the year. Ross, who also earned the SJHL scoring title, lead the league in scoring with 46 goals and 45 assists in 56 games.

Weyburn Red Wing forward Jesse Ross has been named the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's (SJHL) player of the year. Ross, who also earned the SJHL scoring title, lead the league in scoring with 46 goals and 45 assists in 56 games. Jesse played right wing on a line with Keegan Bruce and Coltyn Sanderson helping the Wings secure first place in the Sherwood Conference. Runner up for the title was Blake Tatchell of the Battlefords North Stars.

Other SJHL awards went to Blake Tatchell, Battlefords North Stars for SJHL Most Valuable Player with the runner up going to Andrew Johnston, Humboldt. Carson Grolla, of the Notre Dame Hounds took the Defenseman of the Year with runner up going to Woody Klassen of the Battlefords North Stars. The SJHL Top Goaltender went to Davis Jones of the Nipawin Hawks with runner up shared by Alex Rajote of the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Mitch Kilgore of the Weyburn Red Wings. The Rookie of the Year was shared by Devin Buffalo of the Flin Flon Bombers and Brandon Millin of the Notre Dame Hounds. The SJHL Coach of the Year went to Doug Johnson of the Nipawin Hawks with Kevin Hasselberg of the Battlefords North Stars as runner up.
