The Carlyle Fire Department has organized its second annual Raise the Roof Golf Tournament as a means to fundraise for the non-profit organization in order to help pay for the services they provide to the community.

The tournament is scheduled to be held at the Carlyle Golf Club on July 27 and will begin at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. The entry fee this year is $500 for teams of four. Included is 18 holes of golf as well as a steak supper and an entry to win a framed tribute, "100 Years of Rider Pride." Payment is due by July 21st for the festivities and additional supper tickets are available at $20.

After a successful last year the Fire Department hopes to once again have many attend the event, which benefits the entire community as often people don't realize how much the Fire Department does until they are in need of them.

"Carlyle and the surrounding area is growing rapidly and so is the need for the Fire Department, we are experiencing more and more calls that we have not properly trained for and the growth in business is bringing new and challenging situations," the fire department states.

Also available will be a 50/50 draw, multiple door prizes, raffle tables, and a silent auction which includes autographed photos of Weston Dressler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Curtis Glencross, and Cory Sarich.

This year will again see money put aside for the planned multipurpose building to be built next to the fire hall. This will be used for training of local fire fighters, but would be made available to others in the southeast as well. It would be beneficial for both office use by members and would work as a conference room too.

"We are looking to build this facility with the ability to invite surrounding Fire Departments to be able to participate in training, as the costs of the instructors is usually based on amount of participants and mileage. We can train more firefighters in one facility for less. The facility would also be able to be used by other businesses that have courses that they need adequate space for such as H2S, First Aid, etc..."
