Friday, May 5, saw a snooker tournament and lunch held by the Carlyle Happy Gang. The snooker tournament was a part of the Senior Olympic Games. The Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association (SSFA) hold the games for anyone 55 and over. With about 15 different events for them to partake in it is a great way to stay active.

As a district tournament the top two will advance to provincial playoffs in Saskatoon held July 3 to 5. They could have had entries from as far as the United States border, Manitoba border, Fort Qu'appelle, and as far as Ogema. Nobody travelled quite that far for the tournament. After a day of competing first place went to Cecil Marral of Kennedy, Eric Hanson of Redvers won second, and Bert Hall of Carlyle took third. Marral and Hanson will advance to provincials if they choose to attend. All participants were given a deck of cards as a participatory gift.

That day the Happy Gang put on a $6 lunch. Homemade soup, sandwiches, and desserts were served. The Happy Gang is a group of people 55 and over who enjoy getting together to visit, play card games, billiards, and shuffle board. They like to be involved in the community and enjoy hosting lunches and potlucks.

The Happy Gang is always looking for new members. They encourage people to join and enjoy all the great activities they offer. To become a part of the group simply contact any of the members, such as Cliff Walker, Leona Haney, and Audrey Young.

The Happy Gang Hall also supports Lion's Club meetings. The two have a wonderful relationship as the Lion's donated a new fridge to the hall. In addition to the Lion's using the hall, it is available to rent through community members by contacting Rita Gauthier, a member of the Happy Gang since 1995, people are able to set this up.
