Softball players win nationals bronze

The Moose Jaw Little League girls softball district All Star Sask Team won the bronze medal at the Junior League Canadian Championships in Calgary on July 24-27.

The Moose Jaw Little League girls softball district All Star Sask Team won the bronze medal at the Junior League Canadian Championships in Calgary on July 24-27.
The Sask All Star Team includes Paige Eden, Mykayla Fysh, Jessie Rood, Payton Wionzek, Rainy Volk, Sarah Feeley, Jesse Chadwick, Sydney Gregor, Madison Thul, Vanessa Knox, Delaney Townsend and Lakeda Peterson. The team included players from Assiniboia and Ogema. The Sask All Star team represented Saskatchewan in the Junior League Canadian Championships.
The Saskatchewan team began and ended the finals against Medicine Hat. In its first game of the round robin, Saskatchewan took the early lead but ended up dropping the game to Medicine Hat. The bronze medal game took place on July 27 in Calgary. The Sask team rose to the challenge and rallied for a 19-8 win over the Thunder to take home the bronze medal. Delaney Townsend from the Saskatchewan team read the player pledge before the game and Jessie Rood pitched the game.
The tournament was a great sporting experience for the team and the girls had a chance to meet new people. Coaching the Saskatchewan team were Bob Marzolf, Katie Marzolf and Darby Fiddler.
