Swing for Scholarships raises over $28,000

Southeast Regional College's 15th annual Swing for Scholarships golf tournament, held on September 13th at the Weyburn Golf Club, surpassed its goal by raising over $28,000.

Southeast Regional College's 15th annual Swing for Scholarships golf tournament, held on September 13th at the Weyburn Golf Club, surpassed its goal by raising over $28,000.

This amount includes the dollar-for-dollar matching by the Ministry of Advanced Education's Saskatchewan Opportunity Scholarship program, and will provide scholarship funding to students registered in full time post-secondary studies at the college in 2014.

All 67 golfers that participated in the event were treated to a gorgeous day of golf, a delicious steak BBQ, and a variety of prizes at the Weyburn Golf Club. The team that registered the lowest score for the day included Don Kraft, Jamie Geiger, Craig Robson, and Ian Fleck from the Weyburn Co-op.

Marketing Manager for Southeast Regional College, Dave Harazny, was extremely pleased with the tournament results.

"The weather was beautiful and everyone had a very enjoyable time," said Harazny. "We are extremely grateful for the support this tournament receives from its participants and sponsors. I would just like to thank all the individuals, businesses, and organizations for their support of our students and our College in the community."

Mark your calendars for next year's tournament scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Weyburn Golf Club. In the meantime, the College will be busy attending various career fairs at high schools throughout the southeast region this fall.
