A pair of Estevan Sharks teams won medals at the provincial water polo championship held March 24-25 in Saskatoon.

After competing in several tournaments during the season, the atom Sharks won silver at provincials and the bantam Sharks took home bronze.

The atom Sharks lost 11-4 to Regina in the final.

In the semifinal, the Sharks shut down a strong attacking Weyburn club and hung on for an 8-7 win to advance to the final.

Weyburn had two golden opportunities to tie the game in the last five seconds, but they were turned aside by Estevan's Taeghen Hack and Jarod Buick.

The bantam Sharks earned bronze after losing 13-2 to Weyburn in the semifinals.

The Sharks have also placed several players on the Saskatchewan team for nationals.

Vincent Dupuis, Brandon Graff, Brendon Bill, Auriel Bill and Taylor Fornwald will represent Estevan on Team Sask., which is also heading to California this weekend to play several teams in preparation for nationals.

The Sharks plan to host some water polo camps this summer for any athletes interested in joining the atom and bantam teams in the fall.
