Weyburn Comp Eagles Junior A girls win district title

The Weyburn Comp Jr. A girls travelled to Estevan on Wednesday to compete in the District Championship, and beat Radville in the finals.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comp Jr. A girls travelled to Estevan on Wednesday to compete in the District Championship.

The girls had a tremendous day, going undefeated in the round robin against Carnduff, Estevan, Stoughton and Radville, and then winning the final in convincing fashion over Radville.

The WCS Eagles beat Radville in the final 25-16 and 25-14. This concludes a very successful season for the girls.

Meantime, the Grade 7 girls volleyball team hosted districts at the WCS Eagle gym on Wednesday, with the team split into a Black squad and Red squad.

The black squad defeated George F. Kells School from Carlyle by scores of 25-13 and 25-17, then lost to Weldon School from Bienfait by scores of 25-18 and 25-18.

The team defeated Wawota by scores of 25-16 and 25-11, and won two of three versus the WCS red squad, by scores of 25-21, a loss of 25-12 and 15-12.

The red squad beat Redvers in the round robin by scores of 25-22 and 25-23, and Wawota by scores of 25-2 and 25-6 before meeting up the WCS black team.

The WCS black team advanced to the finals versus Redvers, and they lost 25-17 and 25-19.
