Weyburn Red Wings split games on home ice

The Weyburn Red Wings split their games last week on home ice. On Thursday, October 17, the visiting Melfort Mustangs clipped the Wings in a 5-3 decision.

The Weyburn Red Wings split their games last week on home ice.

On Thursday, October 17, the visiting Melfort Mustangs clipped the Wings in a 5-3 decision.

Nicholas Marcoux started the scoring in the first with Tyler Borstmayer adding the second goal shortly after.

Sam Williams banked the third goal in the second period with the assist to Curtis Piekowye.

The Wings defeated the Flin Flon Bombers 3-2 on Friday night.

Shain Scheshcuk opened the scoring for the Wings from the Marcoux brothers. Kyle Oleniuk scored the second in the second period from Ty McLean and Sam Williams. Scheshcuk planted the third goal for the Wings in the third frame.

Next Wings action goes Saturday, October 26 at Crescent Point Place against the Melville Millionaires. Puck drops at 7:30.

Red Wing goalie Rylan Parenteau has been selected as one of six goalies on Canada's West Selection camp roster ahead of the 2013 World Junior A Challenge.

The selection camp, is scheduled for October 26-30, and will be held at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The 2013 World Junior A Challenge will be held November 4-10 at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth, N.S.
