Weyburn Soccer placed well at FC Regina Cup tournament

Weyburn Soccer had lots of representation at the FC Regina Cup over the weekend, including the U9 boys, U9/11 girls and U11 boys, U13 boys and girls and a U15 coed team.

WEYBURN – Weyburn Soccer had lots of representation at the FC Regina Cup this weekend.

Teams included the U9 boys, U9/11 girls and U11 boys, U13 boys and girls and a U15 coed team.

In the U9-U11 age groups, no score or standings are kept due to Saskatchewan Soccer Tournament sanctioning policy.

The U13 girls won two games and lost one, and this had them tied for second in the group. As the loss was against the team they were tied with, they were not able to advance to the final.

The U13 boys won all three games in their round robin play, earning their spot in the final where they played against Moose Jaw.

The final was close, but Weyburn edged Moose Jaw out 3-2 winning the gold medal. The U15 coed team played their first games of their season at this tournament. They won one game and lost two.

“All of the Weyburn teams had great showings this weekend and represented Weyburn Soccer spirit, sportsmanship and our culture well,” said coach Tyler Hillstead.
