Weyburn to host high school provincial curling

Three SHSAA high school provincial curling championships will be contested on March 2-3. Weyburn will play host to both the boys and girls championships while Cabri will host the mixed championship at the Abbey curling rink.

Three SHSAA high school provincial curling championships will be contested on March 2-3. Weyburn will play host to both the boys and girls championships while Cabri will host the mixed championship at the Abbey curling rink. Each of the three championships will consist of eight teams in a triple knock-out format leading to four qualifiers taking part in a championship round to determine the medallists. The eight teams participating in each championship were decided through regional championships that were held February 17-18 at various locations around the province.

In the boys division, teams participating include Swift Current, Assiniboia, Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton Regional, Foam Lake, North Battleford and Saskatoon Holy Cross. The 2011 winners were: gold - Weyburn, silver - Moose Jaw Central and bronze - Saskatoon Holy Cross.

In the girls division, teams participating include Moose Jaw Vanier, Rosetown, Regina Campbell, Lampman, Esterhazy, Raymore, Saskatoon St. Joseph and Loon Lake. The 2011 winners were: gold - Watrous, silver - Weyburn and bronze - Loon Lake.
