Wings pick up two wins

In their first match of the season, the Weyburn Red Wings defeated the Estevan Bruins 4-1 on home ice November 11. The Remembrance Day game saw Ty McLean bank the first goal for the Wings from Brian Farkas and Josh Lees in the second period.

In their first match of the season, the Weyburn Red Wings defeated the Estevan Bruins 4-1 on home ice November 11.

The Remembrance Day game saw Ty McLean bank the first goal for the Wings from Brian Farkas and Josh Lees in the second period. Ryan Cooper scored the second goal that period from Kyle Olenuik and Nick Pouliot.

Olenuik scored on a power play from McLean and Cooper and 10 seconds later in the third period, Farkas got the fourth goal from Cooper and McLean.

The Wings traveled to Melfort to defeat the Mustangs 4-2 on November 9.

Two goals were scored in the first period by Olenuik with assists to McLean and Farkas and to Tyler Borstmayer and Jacob Jeske.

Jon Brumwell scored the third goal in the second period from Gabriel Marcoux and Cooper, while Cooper banked the fourth goal fro Oleniuk and McLean.

The Wings traded the CJHL playing rights of Sam Williams to the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

In exchange Weyburn received defenseman Mason Anderson, with future considerations. The 18-year-old native of Alaska has tallied 1 goal and 4 assists, to go along with 25 PIM, in his Junior A hockey career.

The Wings travel to Yorkton tonight to take on the Terriers and back home to meet the Nipawin Hawks at Crescent Point Place on November 16, puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
